On Friday 15th November 2019 , Kingston Borough paid tribute to a number of winners and unsung heroes from the boroughs sporting community .
The Mayor of Kingston Margaret Thompson and Kingston Borough CEO Ian Thomas hosted the presentation evening at the Guild Hall and over 150 people were in attendance to celebrate their achievements and contributions. Ian Thompson crowned the evening off by awarding the hugely competitive club of the year with hundreds of clubs in the borough across a broad spectrum of sports to the Weir Archer Academy a huge achievement for a young and growing club and Ian mentioned that the award recognised Weir Archer Academy for not just their on track performances but the great addition it has made to the Borough providing a solid disability and inclusive environment with excellent coaching and support .
Beyond all the achievements Ian also made reference to the great community based work the Weir Archer Academy does by attending sports days to help young disabled children with participation , care home visits and regular speaking at various associations and companies.
